States Want I-69 Aligned with Memphis

The Mississippi and Tennessee departments of transportation have announced they would prefer the proposed I-69 corridor to be built through Memphis, using existing interstates' 40, 55 and 240. The departments also proposed a future I-269 that would connect to the Mississippi portion of I-69 south of Memphis. The departments maintain that running I-69 through Memphis is a shorter option, therefore involving less land to be purchased for the proposed Canada to Mexico highway.
